6 Months and still going!

It is crazy to believe that I have been here for 6 months. It has gone by so fast and before you know it, I will be back home. I am still loving every minute of being here. A couple weeks ago I was talking to my mom and while we were talking I decided to take a quick trip home. I leave next Monday night and I come back Wednesday afternoon. It is going to be a super fast trip but I can't wait to see my family and friends. It was completely a spur of the moment decision but know that I have made that decision I can't wait to go.

A couple weeks ago Dr. & Mrs. B had to go to Switzerland for a wedding. They were gone from Thursday to Sunday. It was a quick trip for them to go to Europe. While they were gone I basically was in charge of the house. I had to make sure the boys got where they needed to go and everyone got home safely and lock the doors and so on so forth. Well, I was a little nervous with so much responsibility but everything worked out great. Will and I had a great time. He missed his parents but I kept him busy pretty well. We made gingerbread houses, which turned out super cute. Mine is on the right, I am pretty proud of it!We went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and saw the Sculpture Garden on the roof, which was amazing. Below you can see the sculptures. The yellow one is called the balloon dog. Which was my favorite, if you look closely (by the nose) you can see where the balloon was tied. It is an actual sculpture though. The red one on the right is a foil heart with a gold ribbon. I like this one because you can see where the foil folds over and makes a crease. There is so much detail to them all. The one in the middle, the multi colored one, I am not sure what is is.

After the museum we went to the Top of the Rock, which is the top of the Rockefeller Center. You can see the whole city and look over to New Jersey and Brooklyn and Queens. It is beautiful and we went on a gorgeous day. I have now been there 4 times, once in the winter, once in the fall which was also at sunset, at night and now I have been in the Spring. I would recommend going in the Spring or Summer when the trees in Central Park are all full and green. Seeing it at night is also really fun but go when the weather is warm enough that you can spend a lot of time up there. When I went at night it was still kind of cold. Oh, some more advice, don't go to the Empire State Building, there is less room on top, longer lines. and bars all around the viewing area. The Top of the Rock has wider walk areas, more room to just sit, 3 different levels to see from, you can see the Empire State Building, better view of Central Park, glass panels so nothing obstructs your view and every time I have been there, I have only had to stand in a line once and it was only for a new minutes. These are some of the pictures from up there.

Will looking out the window, he was so excited!

We had a lot of fun but were both glad when the parents got home.

Since moving to New York I have seen a number of celebrities, either on a film set or just walking around. I have seen Ryan Gosling, Jon Lithgow, the whole cast of Gossip Girl while on set, Marg Helgenberger from CSI:Las Vegas, Natalie Portman (she is directing a movie called New York, I Love You), Tim Gunn from Project Runway, Matt Lauer, and Conan O'Brien. I am sure that I will see more. It has been fun to see these people as just regular people. When I saw Conan O'Brien he was in Central Park out running, at the time I saw him he was walking. Tim Gunn was out walking his dog. Marg Helgenberger was walking down Fifth Avenue with a friend. Jon Lithgow was just walking down Central Park West (he lives on the Upper West Side). Ryan Gosling was crossing the street with a girl but all I know is she had blond hair. And just to clarify, I do not go search for these people, I usually just happen to be in the area. The only one I actually set out to see was the set of Gossip Girl.

I am loving the warmer weather here in New York. Just the other day I went to Central Park and read a book. I found this perfect rock under a tree and just sat there for a couple hours. It was so beautiful. It is so nice not to have to bundle up just to take a walk. I am loving it. I am dreading the summer when it will be humid and even warmer but at least we will be in the Hamptons and the beach most of the time.

Today a friend and I rented a car and went to New Jersey and Queens to do some shopping. I am happy to say I did not receive a ticket this time. We had a lot of fun and got to eat at Chili's and enjoy the scenery. I got some new luggage and things for Mother's Day. It was a very productive day.

There is nothing else that is new. In a couple weeks, my friend and I are planning a road trip to Rhode Island, I will let you know how it goes. Hope everything is going well for you all and if you have time, leave a comment of write me and email. Love you all and to all of the mothers reading this blog, I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day, you deserve it!
