Cooper is a wonderful big brother. I've been told that he never wants to leave Easton and wants Easton right by him where ever he may be.
So back to my life here in New York City. After spending time here in every season, my favorite is summer. Everything is so green and beautiful. It is a little humid but so far hasn't been too bad. We've had a lot of rain and I am a little sick of it but that's what makes everything so green, so I guess I can handle it. I love Central Park. For those who have never been to New York, Central Park is a very large park. It is 2 1/2 miles long and 1/2 mile wide. It has over 20 baseball fields, a huge reservoir, a lake, a few smaller ponds, 2 ice skating rinks during winter (one is a small carnival and the other is a swimming pool during the summer), 2 large grassy areas (the Great Lawn and Sheep's Meadow), many many playgrounds, lots of running and biking routes, etc. So I think you get the point, it is HUGE. I love walking through the park, reading a book in the park, having a picnic in the park or just about anything. Just a few weeks ago, Henry, Will and I went on a row boat on the lake.
Since moving here I have gotten over the shock and awe of seeing really expensive cars. While my family was here, I saw my first Maserati. The family I work for owns 2 Mercedes so that got old fast, now it is just another car. I have been chauffeured around in a town car and I love it. I have seen all types of cars either in the city or the Hamptons. Just last weekend while we were in the Hamptons, I got to actually sit in a Maserati. I must say it was a really cool experience. The speedometer goes up to 185 mph. But the excitement is actually wearing off.
I have learned so much since moving here. I have learned that I can handle moving away and that I am more than capable to do things on my own. I have always been a little independent however I still lived at home and always talked to my parents and somewhat leaned on them for things. I am definitely more confident in myself. I always had a little bit of trouble making small and large decisions but since moving here, I have had to make those decisions. Of course, I still call my mom and dad and siblings back home but mostly it is up to me. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is not a very well known religion here as it is in Mesa. People have a lot of questions and I have learned that I can answer most of their questions. Some people have never heard about Mormons and have no clue, others have many misconceptions. I have been able to clear somethings up and for those who don't know anything, I have been able to explain what the Church is all about. It has been a very rewarding experience. My boss always has questions for me and is interested in learning things about what I can and can't do. She thinks it is odd that I have never drank coffee. One of my co-workers and I have had many conversations about the Church. It has been a lot of fun to talk about. I can feel myself light up when I talk about the Church and I just get so excited. I may not really be sharing the Gospel but I have planted a seed. Some people I have met, have never even met a Mormon, others like I said earlier have had many misconceptions and I think after meeting me and talking to me, their earlier thoughts about Mormons have changed. The Church is definitely growing in the East. Just last week while driving around in Queens we drove past a large group of missionaries and honked and waved. It is so comforting to see missionaries. I love seeing the Lord's work in motion. Once I saw these sister missionaries talking to this older couple and I wanted to stop and tell this older couple to listen to these women, what they have to say is really important and can change your life for the better, but I thought that I might just scare them off so I just walked by with a huge smile on my face. I miss my singles ward back home and all of the fun activities around the valley but I also love my small singles ward here too and the fun things we do here.
A few weeks ago, the New York Philharmonic played in Central Park on the Great Lawn.
In the last scene of August Rush when the little boy is conducting the orchestra, that is the NY Philharmonic playing in Central Park. It was so much fun. I was actually supposed to meet some people there at 6:30 but because I got lost, forgot my cell phone and had some other problems I didn't get there until after 7:30. There were hundreds of people there and all I knew was I was supposed to look for yellow balloons. When I finally reached the great lawn, there were at least 10 groups of people with yellow balloons. I rarely forget my phone and this was one of those times I really need it. As I was walking through the groups of people sitting on the lawn I ran into the mom of a friend of Will. She wished me good luck finding my group because I really needed it. After that I was tempted to just leave and as I was walking out towards the sidewalk I ran into the Relief Society President. I got extremely lucky. We found the group and I didn't miss a thing. The place was packed. The concert was okay. I couldn't hear very well because everyone was talking. The group next to us was smoking the whole time which made things a little miserable. The best part is a I met some new people. It was fun to talk to them, I am always so interested to find out what brought people here. The majority of the people I meet are from church and about 95% are from Utah or BYU. And from those people that I meet at church, there are usually here for school, work in finance, or work in the TV or movie industry. I met someone who works for VH1 and has met many musicians and artist. Another person I have met, he is actually my home teacher, he is an intern for interior design and one of the clients of the firm is Denzel Washington. The other group of people I met are the other nannies and a lot of them are either from Asia or the Caribbean Islands. They are all very nice but I always feel closer to the moms than I do the nannies. All of the moms in his class are all so nice and always say hi and have been great. I just recently got down all of there names. That is something else I have had to learn to do is meet new people. Back home I was so comfortable with the friends I already had, therefore I didn't care to meet new people and put myself out there. Here I have been forced to do that. I have been lucky enough to meet some great people that I know will last forever. Two of my closest friends (Becca and Krista) have both gone back to Utah. I miss them both so much but I know they are both doing so well back home and we have plans to meet up next year.
I still have so much more I want to write about but I really need to go to sleep. Robin is coming here tomorrow morning and I am picking her up at the airport at 6 and I need to be up in about 4 1/2 hours. I will write part 2 soon, I promise.
Thanks for those who left a comment or emailed me, it was fun to have email from actual people and not just junk mail. I love you all and I will add some more pictures soon.

You don't know me. I'm a friend of Irene Rudd and found your blog from Tassi's blog. I must say that your experiences make for some great reading!!! I am a bit jealous of your time in NY. I've always had a love affair with that place. I've been a nanny many times, so I can relate a little to your situation. I was always homesick. I'm just not very good at being away from my family and familiar culture. I'm impressed with what you're doing and your ability to journal all of your feelings and experiences. I loved reading. I think I read for an hour or more. Good luck in all you do!

Jenny, I am still homesick and I have lived away for almost four years. I still call my mom just about every day. I wish we could take a trip up to NYC and meet up. I love that city. CONGRATS to Courtney.
Guess what? When I saw the picture of your nephew (the older one), I thought it was my nephew. They could be twins! I miss you and New York tons. I didn't realize how much I would miss it. I wish flights were cheaper. Hope everythings going good! Call me!
